The Department of Homeland Security has prepared a CD and booklet with information on what to do in an emergency. These are specific for North Central Texas and include topics such as severe weather, terrorism, hazardous materials and personal safety. Local Governments Encourage Xeriscapes
Summer is quickly approaching. www.txsmartscape.com is a product produced in a collaborative effort with the North Central Texas Council of Governments. It is designed as an interactive way for homeowners to utilize xeriscape principals for the garden that require less water, pesticides and fertilizer than you might be using at this time. This may prove to be an excellent resourse for design of your garden, care and maintenance of your existing plants and ideas for conserving water and saving money on your water bills.

City of Carrollton Offers Free Sprinkler System Inspections
Homeowners can call the Water Utilities Department to arrange a free sprinkler system inspection to look for effieiency, leaks and problem areas. Call 972-466-3120 to arrange for your inspection.

 

Kaboom Town Fireworks Scheduled for July 3
Addison's annual Kaboom Town celebrateion is set for Thursday, July 3 at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle Drive. Live music begins at 5:00 PM followed by a flyover by planes from the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Fireworks begin at 9:30 and music will be simulcast on Mix 102.9.

Old Fashioned Fourth
Historic Downtown Carrollton is the site of the Old Fashioned Fourth celebration from 10 AM - 4 PM. The day will be filled with performances and activities for all ages. The cost is free.

 

Farmers Branch Sets Independence Day Celebration
Attractions for kids and a performance by Emerald City will kick off the Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration Thursday, July 3 at Farmers Branch Historic Park. Gates open at 6:30 and the concert begins at 8:00 PM. Fireworks begin about 9:00 PM.

 

Frisco Celebrates Freedom Fest
The City of Frisco will host Freedom Fest July 4 in from of Frisco City Hall with fun activities for families. A fireworks display is scheduled at Pizza Hut Park after the FC Dallas game and a concert with poprocker Freddy.

 

Carrollton Celebrates Parks and Recreation Month in July
Tto celebrate Parks and Recreation month, the popular Swim-In-Cinema featuring “Surf's Up” will be held Friday, July 25 from 8 – 10 p.m. at the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex ( 1334 E. Rosemeade Parkway ). Bring the entire family for a night of fun.

Mustang Park Development
Land is currently being cleared along Plano Parkway between SH 544 and Hebron High School for the new Mustang Park Development. This multi-use development will feature a medical office building and other commercial properties. The first phase of the development is a 393 unit multi-family complex developed by Lincoln Properties according to Carrollton zoning officials.

Justice of the Peace, Precinct 6, Judge Patty Larson reports that the jurisdiction of the Court was increased from $5,000 to $10,000 and they anticipate an increase in Civil and Criminal cases for 2008. Currently the Court handles a large number of non-payment of toll violations on George W. Bush Tollway for NTTA and anticipates handling violations on SH 121.
